Steve Albini’s estate is selling items from his archives

Steve Albini

Steve Albini‘s estate has launched a sale of memorabilia from his archive to commemorate the first anniversary of the legendary producer and engineer’s death.

Items on the market include books, records, CDs, shirts, flyers, zines, and more. Among the albums on sale are releases from the likes of Elvis Costello, Buzzcocks, Can, Burzum, the Dead C, Urge Overkill, Didjits, Jon Spencer, and more. You can see what else is on sale here.

“Steve pursued many fields of interest, and most of them are represented somewhere in his collections,” the site says. “All items purchased are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the collection’s administrator, Byron Coley, and the proceeds are directed towards Steve’s estate. All materials are guaranteed authentic, and listings are updated on a weekly basis.”

Albini died on May 8, 2024 from a heart attack at his Chicago home, aged 61. During his career, he produced over 2,000 albums, most famously Nirvana’s ‘In Utero’, Pixies’ ‘Surfer Rosa’, PJ Harvey’s ‘Rid Of Me’ and The Breeders’ ‘Pod’. He was also well known for playing in the bands Shellac and Big Black.

Last year, a street named after him was unveiled in Chicago in November in a ceremony that saw guest appearances by Kim Deal and Jeff Tweedy. The 2600-2700 block of West Belmont Avenue was carefully selected as the late Albini’s iconic Electrical Audio studio sits in that stretch of buildings.

In July, a number of musicians paid tribute to Albini on what would have been his 62nd birthday. Musicians who paid tribute included PJ Harvey, Mogwai, Shellac‘s Todd Trainer and more.

Before then, Albini was honoured in a speech by PJ Harvey during her Primavera Sound 2024 set. The festival also named a stage after Albini in his honour at the time.
